We’ve all seen it, you know what I’m talking about. That one sign that we see every day after work that says 2 burgers for just $3.50. How can you not be interested? I mean you’re tired from a long day at work and the last thing you want to do is go home and prepare yourself a meal. I mean it’s just one time, it can’t hurt right?
How many times have you been put in that situation? I know it’s easy to follow the fast food trend because it’s cheap and fast but you can’t give in, at least not all the time! Junk food is quickly sweeping our nation, and causing problems for people of all ages. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that in the year 2010 33.8% of United States adults were obese. It also stated that 17% or 12.5 million children in the United States were obese.

If you find yourself eating fast food more than you should be, realize that it’s not entirely your fault! You are just another victim of companies that influence you into eating their product. For instance, if you watch T.V. for an hour did you know that 60% of all commercials are going to be food advertisement. The food industry spends over 33 billion dollars advertising it products and a child will see over 20,000 junk food commercials on T.V. per year.
So how could you not crave a burger or some pizza after seeing all these advertisements, that’s what they’re made for! But by consuming fast food on a regular basis you are increasing the:
- Rates of bone fracture
- Risk of osteoporosis
- Risk of becoming obese and over-weight
- Risk of Type II Diabetes
- Risk of kidney stones
- Risk of tooth decay
- Risk of heart-disease
- Risk of heart-attack
I know that one reason people prefer to eat junk food is because it is cheaper than buying fresh foods, but realize you might be paying less now but you’ll end up paying the same amount in the future when you get your hospital bill. So now that you know the dangers of eating junk food, do something about it and don’t become another statstic.
