What is EBT?

Electronic Benefits Transfer, or EBT, is a system that helps people buy groceries with government assistance.

By accepting EBT in your grocery store, you can:

  • Help low-income families buy groceries and essential goods
  • Attract regular monthly shoppers
  • Increase sales by 5-15%

EBT is available in all 50 states.

EBT Food vs. EBT Cash

EBT Food is part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which is specifically for helping people purchase food and non-alcoholic beverages. The recipient is given a card with a preloaded balance that they can use with retailers.

EBT Cash can be used to buy food and non-food items. This EBT program is more flexible and can be withdrawn as cash from an ATM.

Accepting EBT with your point of sale can help groceries and essential goods be more accessible to low-income families.
